I spent the other half of the semestral break in my home town since there were occasions that needed me to be home. I didn't expect though that my childhood friends would be in town and that despite of their hectic schedule, we would be able to meet up and reminisce the good old days.
We belong to a bigger group of friends, but then, it's difficult to gather everyone at the same time. Aside from being professionals some of us had decided to find peace earlier in their lives by nurturing their own families.
The Singles |
When it comes to food and mini meet ups we are the most available, The Singles :)) The photo above was already taken at Coffee and Co., but we've dined earlier in one of our favorites, Naga Restaurant, where the serve the famous Kinalas and Toasted Siopao. We couldn't stay longer in that restaurant though, so we had to find another place. In fact, the second place we chose isn't new to us. Back in the day, when we were young and not so sober, we find the nights until wee hour in the morning i n this place with billiards, videoke, drinking, etc. Not that we're old, we choose to talk about things, people, relationships and humanity at large over cups of coffee and cakes on the side. People, they say, change. And we would like to believe we're part of the human race, and so, we change as well.
American Breakfast |
And what's good with meeting old friends without sharing the best of food in town? Though it was late for breakfast the boys wanted to try this meal. Not too heavy and not too light for some bottles of beer later that night.
Steak for the Break |
No rice for tonight? Are we Americanized? Or probably we're trying eat something not heavy for the night was young and so were we. We didn't want to spoil the night by retiring early because we were full. In fact, the code, Malinig ang CR ninda? (Is their restroom clean?), was created that night.
It means "I want to deposit something in their restroom ."
My Clubhouse left over |
A hypocrite at that, I ordered a club house for myself and didn't eat the other half. I claimed to be full halfway while consuming the meal. Honestly though, I didn't like the taste and the serving was too much for my foreign appetite. This left over lasted until the drinking portion of the night when the only thing I ordered was Tanduay Ice, the white one. We used to drink a lot when we were young. These days, however, it is not a surprise anymore if we will have just a couple of bottles of beer and not buckets, anymore.
Sign of getting old? Maybe. Or it could be we value our money better so we've decided to spend it on something else more important like coffee (?) Eer.. Hehe.. Anyway, after this meet up with the singles, we heard the engaged couple are in town. Jovy and May waited for us in Avenue Square, while Fank and Ben were enjoying the Planet of the Apes. Good thing they are naturally kind. Otherwise, they could have left us.
The next day, us, the singles, decided to jog. We've doubts of Fank going with us and he never failed us. He didn't show up. Oh, well. He's been doing it for years and how can we not get used to it:)
Bagalacsa Family and Friends |
The last among all the meet ups I had last November was the best, if not, the most memorable. Chris and Gail are our childhood friends, as well. We went to the same elementary school and in fact, the same class since I don't know know exactly when. We attended the reception of their civil wedding in 2010 and now, they have an adorable baby Margaux. I am happy for them, but within, I have this slight feeling of envy. If only, I took life seriously a bit earlier, I would have my own little angel:)
